Long Weekend Staycation: Oak Bay Beach Hotel #familytravel

I am so lucky to live in Victoria, BC. Victoria is a beautiful city on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. It is surrounded by the ocean. Our weather is mild in the winter and warm in the summer. Victoria has numerous unique hotels and resorts.

My husband and I love traveling and really like bringing our children along to experience new places. We really love staying in hotels. There’s something fun about getting away and changing your scenery, even if it’s just for one night. We thought that treating ourselves and our kids to a night at the Oak Bay Beach Hotel would be fun and relaxing for all of us! The fact that the hotel is only minutes from our house was great. We had no long drive ahead of us and didn’t have to pack much. We could relax the minute we checked in.

The Oak Bay Beach Hotel is a new hotel located in an upscale neighbourhood of Victoria, BC. There are many nice walking paths in the area and the hotel is close to the small town of Oak Bay which has numerous shops and restaurants.

My husband and I have stayed at the hotel before but had not brought the kids there until last weekend. We knew the kids would love the Oak Bay Beach Hotel’s mineral pool and hot tubs so we thought staying there for one night would be a big treat for the kids. We checked into the hotel just after lunch.

Our one bedroom suite was gorgeous. It was well appointed and included  a small kitchen with fridge, stove and dishwasher, a living room with a double sofa bed, a room with one King bed and a modern bathroom with a soaker tub and large shower. Oak Bay Beach Hotel One Bedroom

I was so excited to see that they had they had brought up two children’s robes for our kids to wear when going down to the pool. Oak Bay Beach Hotel

We lucked out with the weather. The sun was shinning, the air was warm, it was a perfect day to spend hours at the pool. The pool area at the Oak Bay Beach Hotel is very special. It has a large, heated mineral pool and has two hot tubs. The pool area is set right on the ocean. If you wish you to jump in the pacific ocean you can do so from a designated path. My kids absolutely loved swimming in the pool and sitting in the hot tub. I adored relaxing in the warm pool and in the hot tubs. It was a real treat. We swam so much on Friday and Saturday morning. The best part of the experience was to see that my daughter finally took the leap and started swimming without any floatation devices or our assistance. That alone was worth the night away!

The hotel has two restaurants, The Snug Pub and a Dining Room. It also hosts a Dinner Theatre several nights per week and has a coffee shop called Kate’s Cafe. We had dinner in the Dining Room the night of our stay. The kids had a great selection of dishes from the Ollie Bear Kid’s Menu. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our appetizers and main courses.

The next morning we had breakfast in the Dining Room and again we were extremely satisfied with our meal. We plan on going back for breakfast again and again.

The hotel has a gorgeous spa. The Boathouse Spa and Baths is an oceanfront spa offers a variety of therapeutic treatments. Spa guests have access to the pool area after their treatments.

This hotel is a gem. If you are planning a trip to the West Coast and to Victoria, BC you must stay a few nights at The Oak Bay Beach Hotel. You won’t be disappointed.
