Explore Southern California from Marriott’s Newport Coast Villas #FamilyTravel

Marriott Newport Coast Villas review

For years now I had Southern California on my travel bucket list. My family loves beaches, relaxing by beautiful pools and sunny weather. Southern California sounded perfect for us. The problem is that we are Hawaii addicts.

I had to convince my husband to make the short trek to Southern California. I researched like crazy and found a beautiful town called Newport Beach, CA. The biggest draw for me in this town was Marriott’s Newport Coast Villas. It sounded like the perfect place for my next family holiday.

We arrived at Marriott’s Newport Coast Villas on a sunny Saturday afternoon. My kids were thrilled when we walked into the lobby and saw three large pools directly below the main balcony. There was lots of action at the pool area, we could see a huge game of chess, ping pong tables and more. We quickly checked in and headed to the pool.

{Location}

Marriott’s Newport Coast Villas are located in Newport Beach, CA. The resort is located about 15 minutes from SNA (John Wayne) airport. Getting to the resort was very easy by rental car.

The resort is located directly across the street from Crystal Cove State park. Crystal Cove is a gorgeous beach and is perfect for families. Marriott’s Newport Coast Villas is about 30 minutes from Disneyland and one hour from San Diego. We really liked the location of this resort. We did a day trip everyday and found getting around from this location to be very convenient and manageable.

{The Villas}

There are over 40 buildings with villas at Marriott’s Newport Coast Villas. Pools are located close to all buildings and a resort shuttle runs all day. All villas at Marriott’s Newport Coast Villas are two bedrooms. They are well laid out and very large.

We were so comfortable in our suite. I really liked the layout. The balcony was such a bonus. We woke up to ocean views everyday and often sat out on the balcony for coffee and lunch.

{Resort Amenities and Activities}

Like other Marriott Vacation Clubs, Marriott’s Newport Coast Villas has so many activities for all members of the family.

The resort has 5 heated outdoor pools, a full size gym with steam room, a spa and a poolside restaurant and bar.

Marriott’s Newport Coast Villas also has a great kids club ( The Sandbox activity centre), a movie theatre, games room and video game arcade.

My children went to The Sandbox on several occasions during our stay. The Sandbox offers great walk-in activities (they have a Wii system set up, often have craft projects and colouring pages available). You can also choose to do extra activities for a small fee. My kids went for the Build a Buddy activity and made a cute teddy bear and stuffed duck one afternoon. They also went to make tie-dye t-shirts on our last full day there. The staff at The Sandbox was friendly and helpful.

Other great amenities include a fire pit where you can purchase S’Mores Kits for $3, a sand volleyball court, putting green, basketball court and tether ball courts.

Perhaps the best perk of the resort is it’s shuttle service. Marriott’s Newport Coast Villas has a FREE shuttle service to many great locations in the area. Shuttles are available to Crystal Cove (pictured below), Laguna Beach, Fashion Island and to the  Crystal Cove Shopping Center.

I found that Marriott’s Newport Coast Villas has thought of it all when it comes to amenities. I was very impressed with everything they offered. In fact, you could probably remain on the property for your entire stay and always have something to do.

{Overall}

My family absolutely loved staying at Marriott’s Newport Coast Villas. It was so difficult to leave the resort. I would absolutely stay at Marriott’s Newport Coast Villas again.

The grounds at Marriott’s Newport Coast Villas are well maintained, clean and easy to navigate through. The resort is large but had a very relaxing feeling to it. I highly recommend this resort for families small and large.
