A Family Getaway at The Westin Grand Vancouver

Update: The Westing Grand is now the Hilton Vancouver Downtown.

I love long weekends. They are always a great excuse to get away and switch things up.

This last long weekend, my family and I headed to Vancouver, BC. On this getaway we stayed at The Westin Grand Vancouver on Robson St.

About the Hotel

The Westin Grand is recently renovated. It is centrally located and is an all-suite hotel.

The hotel has a saltwater outdoor heated pool and whirlpool and a WestinWORKOUT® Fitness Studio open 24hrs a day.

The Westin Grand is located next to the beautiful Vancouver Public Library. It is also near Roger’s Arena, BC Place, Yaletown and steps away from great shopping on Robson street.

The location of this hotel is tough to beat. We parked our car when we arrived and did not need it until we ventured out to the Capilano Suspension Bridge. We walked to restaurants and shopping during our entire stay.

Our Room

We stayed in a 1 bedroom suite during our stay. Our suite was well appointed and had one king bed and a pullout queen sofa bed for the kids in the living room.

The first thing I noticed when stepping into my room was how modern and tastefully decorated it was.

Rooms have floor to ceiling windows which allow a lot of light in (even on rainy days). They have extremely comfortable beds and pillows and lovely toiletries (I’m a sucker for nice hotel shampoo and soap).

I really enjoyed having extra space in this room, especially in the evening when the kids were watching their own movie in the living room and my husband and I were relaxing in the bedroom.

Dining

The Westin Grand has one restaurant located on the lower floor. Hendricks serves tasty breakfasts, lunch and dinners.

The hotel offers 24hr room service.

Some hotel packages include a complimentary breakfast for two.

Overall

My family had a fabulous stay at The Westin Grand Vancouver. We liked the boutique feel of the lobby and our large 1 bedroom suite.

The staff at the Westin Grand were friendly and helpful. The kids loved receiving colouring sheets at check-in and we appreciated the activity suggestions from the valet.

The best part of the hotel for us was the rooftop pool. My kids swam every day during our 3-day stay. The temperature of the pool was just right, there were plenty of towels available in the fitness centre and lounge chairs to sit on if not swimming. The whirlpool was also a great feature and a great place to relax in after a day of walking around downtown Vancouver.
